FREQUENTLY asked Questions
Why should we switch from traditional vegetation management to solar grazing?
-This is a long answer, and our website goes into many details to answer this question. The short answer is that sole grazing saves you money, reduces your carbon footprint, and will increase the production of clean energy on your solar project. We would love to speak directly with you to share our evidence.
How long is the grazing season? Do you charge one price for the season or per mowing?
-In the northeast, our grazing season runs from May 1st through November 1st. Also, unlike vegetation management companies that utilize gas-powered lawnmowers and weed eaters, we charge one rate for the entire season.
Is Lake Ontario Lambscapers LLC insured?
-Yes, Lake Ontario Lambscapers LLC is fully insured. We provided coverage documentation upon request.
Will the sheep damage any equipment or wiring on my project?
-No. Solar Grazing has been practiced in many states and countries in Europe without damage caused to any solar projects.
Do any modifications need to be made to our project so sheep are able to graze?
-No. Solar projects are perfectly designed to graze sheep on. No additional fences are required. The spacing or height of solar panels don’t need to be adjusted, sheep are able to easily manage vegetation on sites in current design. We provide water and minerals for the sheep throughout the grazing season.
Are other livestock; such as, goats and cattle
suitable for solar grazing?
-Unfortunately, the answer to this question is no. Goats naturally chew on anything they can reach, including wires, and they are born climbers which could lead to costly damage of the solar panels. Cattle are excellent grazers; however, they are much too large framed, which prevents them from effectively managing the vegetation under the panels, and the weight of their bodies running against structures will lead to damage on solar sites.
